Last Blooms of Summer

These Petunia Hybrids are last of my flower pots to go..
They were such soldiers, they marched on from June to almost
November, always in full bloom...it hurt a little to put them to rest,
but I would like to think that they will last forever in my Images!

October Mist

A scene from the Muskoka River
I happened upon on my way work this morning.
Another reason a camera is attached to my belt
at all times!

Mothers Embrace

From the moment that the sunlight
Beams upon each newborn face
Our Lives are filled with delight
Of a mothers warm embrace
Her Heart is fond and tender
Her hands soft and kind
Her love is sweet surrender
In the true sense we'll find

Neapoliton Sunset

On my deck last night this scene appeared.
With a hand held camera I shot knowing that
in the low light I would get a less than sharp image.
Camera shake can be a good thing .
As my mother would say..."Artsie Fartsie"

The three layers reminded me of Neapoliton Ice Cream

'Twas a Dark and Stormy Night

The night was dark and stormy
The bathroom light was dim
I heard a crash then a splash....
By gosh he's fallen in!

Stars and Stripes on a Windy Night in Arizona

On a very windy night with gusts from 60 to 90km
I was outside watching my neighbors Canadian Flag
as it was whipped back and forth.
This brought back a memory of a windy night when my father and I
were visiting south east Arizona in March of 2009
That night after dinner I ventured out with my camera and tripod
and caught these images of the American flag as it whipped and danced in the wind

A wee piece of interest
"American Flag" is also a ghost town in Arizona!
Outside of Pinal County, 5 miles southeast of Oracle.
The town was established in 1870 as as a mining town
with a population of 40
By 1884 the population was only 15
so the post office closed and by 1890
the town was left by itself!

A Sense of Urgency

A Sense Of Urgency

The days grow short and the nights cold
there is a sense brewing in this wasp family
build it now, all hands on deck
if we wait at all, It will be for not
for we have a job come this spring
to carry on with a sense of urgency

~ JE Ted Gardner

This is a Yellow Jacket nest being built on my house as we speak
I am fascinated by this process, these wasps are all out about survival
I get up on my ladder and within inches, they just keep working!
Many may say get rid of them? But its to damn interesting.
40 below temperatures and winter winds,
I look forward to their spring to come.
Survival of the fittest

Close, Closer, and Closest.

Northern Hardy Hibiscus
showing signs of late season stress
The stamen still hangs on
in search of any possible pollinator?
In nature every moment counts.
