a year of trying times

as time ticks down to a New Year

my wish is for more to laugh about

than to cry about.

A favorite flower.

Winter winds whip hard and fast

so crisp and cold

who could last?

A finch of colour and of gold

 all summer long

danced with a flower

This little titan is one tough nut

As many will cower at Winter's might

He hangs on

to come face to face 

with that Winter wind
