Fall garden becomes Winters

My garden begins to change in the fall with the first frost.
Blooms change from vibrant to show more of life's hardness.
Beauty still holds for a while, but with time that beauty fades
to eventually be buried by a blanket of white.
That's when winter sunshine so rare, brings a little colour and anticipation to a new garden.

I want my garden to go on.
I cannot bear to think of it as a place
that may be tenanted only in the easy months.
I will not have it draped with nature's dust sheets.
That is why I waged this battle for winter flowers...
