Barred at Night

Our Barred Owl (aka Bob) returned last night

As I'm sure he has many a night.

To apply his stealth hunt in our yard, so quiet a patient.

My flash only shortly disturbed his concentration

we always know when he is successful

as he leaves wing prints n the snow with just a hint of blood. 

Ottawa Abstracts

A trip this past weekend to visit my brother and family.

Outside Ottawa was the scene and hundreds of family shots!

However I found interest on each visit to the front yard..

These are the most interesting, all very abstract, or as the other artist in my family

Remember an October Garden?

Even its most fleeting moments

An October garden is a welcome sight,

In February!

February Rain

A very uncommon event at this time of the year

Colour is rare in late winter

So i give you the originals

They do however make great black & whites

Barred Portraits

Our Barred Owl appeared today in the back yard

Sitting still on our laundry pole, with his intense eyes

searching for rodents under the bird feeders

When I first opened a window for these shots

we shared a staring contest...he won!

This is by far the best view of an Owl you may ever see.

I had to back up my telephoto to get these!

From nature and back...Almost

From nature came a farmers field

then came The Muskoka Highlands Golf Course

and the golfers were smart to leave behind pieces of the natural and farmlands history

This is a Savannah Sparrow with farming history just off the 9th hole
