an ornamental grass that produces

large blooms and seed that feed many birds in my yard 

late in summer and into fall

brings to mind a quiet dream

a dream so soft and slow

laying on your back underneath the trees

with your ears beneath the water

quiet and serene 

only the feeling of a current

to keep an anchor on reality.
